How Uniqlo returns work: get your money back

Uniqlo is a Japan-based clothing and accessories brand that has expanded internationally, with stores all over the world. Founded in 1949 by Tadashi Yanai, the company has been known for offering high-quality, simply designed clothing at affordable prices. 

Uniqlo offers a wide variety of apparel for men, women, and children, including shirts, T-shirts, pants, jackets, sweaters, and coats. It also has a wide selection of accessories, such as socks, caps and bags. In addition, the brand has collaborated with renowned designers and artists to launch limited collections of clothing and accessories. 

Uniqlo has been noted for its focus on the quality and durability of its products, and has adopted sustainable practices in the production of its clothing. For example, it has implemented energy and water saving technologies in its factories and has adopted resource conservation practices. 

Conditions for returns at Uniqlo


For all Uniqlo returns of items purchased online, you will have a maximum period of 30 calendar days after receipt of the order. For this, you will not be able to use them, do not remove the labels and keep them, since when they are returned they cannot be damaged and they must be in the same state in which they were purchased. Returns of underwear and swimwear that do not have the original packaging are not accepted, unless it is defective. 

You can return them only through postal mail, it cannot be done in a physical store. However, if you want to make a change you can do it in physical stores. You also have 30 calendar days from receipt of the order. You have to bring the item or items you want to return together with the invoice included in the shipping confirmation email as proof of completion of the order. The exception is that you cannot change orders that contain items from Princess Tam Tam or Comptoirs des Cotonniers items, because they are collections that can only be found online. So you will have to return it through postal mail. 

Changes can only be made to orders that have been paid by credit or debit card. The items for which you are going to make the change must be equal to or greater than the cost of the order. 

Once the online order has been returned by post, you will receive the refund within the following 14 calendar days from the date on which the returned product or products are received, using the same payment method with which you paid. If you have paid shipping costs, they are not returned, only the amount that the garments have cost. Uniqlo may also retain an amount if the returned items are damaged. 

Regarding the discount vouchers used or promotional codes in your purchase, if the amount of what you do not return is less than the minimum expense to apply the code or discount voucher, the amount of the discount code will be deducted from the total amount that is go to refund.

If you receive a defective product, you have to fill out the order form mentioning that it is defective, provide all possible information and send it by post. They will send you an email as soon as they examine the product and inform you of the refund. In this case, the shipping costs will be returned as well as the return cost. 

There are return costs that will vary depending on the country in which you are. 

If you place an order online to pick up in a physical store and you cannot pick it up within 7 days of receiving the order in the store, it will be returned and you will receive a refund within 14 days. 

Also, you can return more than one order in the same package. For this you will have to register a single return to pay only one fee. For the main order, you have to fill in the packaging receipt with the reason, and for the other orders that you want to return, you will have to add a handwritten return note including the order data and returned items. 


How Uniqlo returns work


To make returns online at Uniqlo of an item you have purchased, you must do so only by postal mail following the steps below: 

  • Access the returns portal found on the Uniqlo website. You will have to select the reason for returning the item or items. A document will be generated with the return label and the packaging receipt. 
  • The return label must be attached to the outside of the package, covering the original shipping label so as not to create problems, and the packaging receipt must be deposited inside the order. You must also pack the garments that are going to be returned. 
  • Deposit the package at a post office. Check that it is scanned correctly and request proof of shipment to avoid problems if the order is lost. You will be able to track the shipment.
